Project summary

Over the years, Vilnius has built up an extensive infrastructure of traffic controllers of various manufacturers and versions. Its diversity complicated the unified management and further expansion of the system. Therefore, the city needed to integrate the existing controllers into a single modern system while maintaining their operation and existing data links.

CROSS, in cooperation with FIMA, now part of JENOPTIK Smart Mobility Solutions, delivered the eDaptiva traffic control system with adaptive control and support for the OCIT protocol to the city of Vilnius (JUDU). 290 existing traffic controllers of various manufacturers and versions (Siemens C800V, Siemens C900V, Dynniq EC-2, Yunex sX, Swarco ITC-3, CROSS RS4S) were integrated into the system. The project also included the migration of historical traffic data, the integration of new CROSS controllers, and the configuration of functions for adaptive traffic control and public transport preference. At the same time, the solution forms the basis for the planned expansion of the system by 210 new traffic controllers over the next five years.

PROJECT GOALS

PROJECT GOALS

  • Unification of the management of the existing infrastructure of traffic controllers of different manufacturers and versions
  • Ensuring controller integration through OCIT
  • Implementation of central monitoring and traffic control
  • Implementation of adaptive traffic control
  • Migration of historical traffic data
  • Creating the basis for further expansion of the system
RESULT

RESULT

The implemented solution unified the monitoring and control of 290 traffic controllers of different manufacturers and versions in one eDaptiva system.

The city gained a central overview of the state of the transport infrastructure and the possibility of its monitoring and control in real time. The system allows to analyze traffic flows and change control modes operatively according to the current situation, which supports adaptive traffic control in the city.

The solution is also prepared for further expansion of the system, including the planned integration of 210 new traffic controllers within five years.

Technologies delivered in the project

  • 210x CROSS RS 4S traffic light controller
  • 1x eDaptiva – a system for monitoring and controlling traffic
  • 1x eDaptiva Mobile – a mobile extension of the system for working with traffic infrastructure

Do you need to connect transport controllers from different manufacturers in one system?

We will help you create an open traffic management system that connects existing technologies and enables their further development.
