Into a new winter season with a new meteorological system

Our company has been involved in meteorological support for winter road maintenance in the Czech Republic for many years. In addition to the production and supply of road meteorological stations for Czech roads and motorways, we operate the so-called road meteorological information system. This year, marked by extraordinary circumstances, we have managed to significantly modernize this system after years.

Into a new winter season with a new meteorological system

The modernized system is called the MIS Meteorological Information System and is the successor of the METIS system operated so far. Less than a year has passed since the signing of the contract with the Directorate of Roads and Motorways of the Czech Republic for the delivery of the new system, and we can announce that the new system is ready to welcome the first users. The implementation phase is successfully over. The system was completely put into operation in the customer's infrastructure and after penetration tests and acceptance it went into full operation on October 1.

During October, we will acquaint winter maintenance dispatchers with the new system as part of the training so that from November 1, when the winter season officially begins, everything will be ready for winter to arrive on Czech roads. The system serves as a support tool in the control of winter road maintenance, it provides winter maintenance dispatchers with detailed meteorological data not only on the weather situation, but also on the condition of roads. In addition to data from weather stations, the system also presents Czech Hydrometeorological Institute forecasts, or a special 12-hour forecast of individual state roads and motorways sections slipperiness.

Effective winter maintenance, higher operational safety, a perfect overview of maintenance costs and their savings - these are the goals that we strive to support in the long run with our solutions in the field of road meteorology. We are keeping our fingers crossed for road workers to manage the onset of this winter without any problems.
