Navigation systems in Ribe, Denmark
Cities facing heavy traffic in and around the city center are often thinking about how to encourage public transport, ease parking in the city center and make parking easier on the outskirts.
The municipality of Esbjerg, which also includes the administration of Denmark's oldest historic town, Ribe, has decided to make it easier for citizens and tourists to find free parking spaces and implement a smart city navigation system to guide drivers to free parking spaces on the outskirts of the city.
The delivery, implemented in 2018 - 2019, included the implementation of the Invipo central surveillance system for city operators, 78 city navigation LED boards with information on the number of vacancies at the site and detection technology for calculating parking occupancy at 16 sites combining loop detectors, wireless magnetic sensors and camera detection.
The delivered solution also included communication elements enabling LTE communication of the device with the central surveillance system. These elements have been installed at each location and in each navigation LED sign.
