Izmir Earthquake Statement
CROSS Zlín, a.s. in a joint venture with AZD Praha built the Izmir Traffic Control Centre (called IZUM) as part of Intelligent Traffic System project between the years 2014 and 2017.
The 2 floor building, set on 1500 sq. m of land on a hilltop above Izmir was to also serve as Disaster Coordination Centre – a purpose it now has to fulfil in response to the Izmir earthquake. IZUM was constructed to withstand the most severe earthquakes and as such survived entirely unaffected. Earthquake dampers were used for all critical equipment, such as servers and the 24-panel video wall of 70” DLP cubes delivered by Delta Electronics.
We wish Izmir a speedy recovery and its inhabitants a quick return to their homes. We are very saddened by the events in Izmir, but we are proud to have delivered a building and a system that now stands at the centre of this disaster relief.
